Sunshine Award!!

I’ve been nominated for a Sunshine Award by my fellow blogger The Polish Alcoholic, thank you so much!  Check out her blog at Polish Alcoholic, she’s got some really great nail art inspiration (and some really gorgeous nails, too!)!

Sunshine Award

The award is given and passed on to bloggers who “positively and creatively inspire others in the blogosphere”.

It’s so nice to know that not only do a handful of people stop by on occasion, but that someone thought enough of my ramblings to nominate me.  Thanks again, girl!  🙂

The Sunshine Award comes with rules:

  1. Acknowledge the person who gave this award in a blog post. CHECK!
  2. Do the Q&A below. CHECK!
  3. Pass on the award to 10 deserving and inspiring bloggers, inform them and link to their blogs. CHECK!

Modi Peel Off Base Coat

Seriously, how do I buy a gross of these?  I have yet to try the PVA glue method, but this seems to be an inexpensive alternative (not knowing what it would cost to ship this from Korea unless it can be found elsewhere).  Hmmm…..

Random Manicures

Here are some manicures I’ve done in the last couple weeks.  I’ve been busy with school. so haven’t been as attentive to the blog as I would like to be.  I will have to stockpile some photos and set up posts when I have some time to steal away.  🙂

The first one uses Nicole by OPI’s Khloe Had a Little Lam-Lam, a dark forest green/teal cream, with an accent nail of Lush Lacquer’s Frankenmama, a clear base packed with with small purple glitter, matte black bright green hex glitter.  I was hoping to pick up a bit more of the green from the Frankenmama  to highlight the dark teal green of the Lam-Lam, but it wasn’t meant to be apparently.  Also, excuse mu super dry cuticles, must not have used my cuticle butter that day.

Here’s Torrid from Orly’s Holiday Minis set.  LOVE IT!  It’s a bright and shiny red with a slightly gold shimmer that looks great indoors and explodes in sunlight!  These are photos taken indoors with artificial light, so it’s not so apparent.  I will have to remember to get some outdoor shots next time I have it on.  While this color does bring Christmas to mind immediately, I think it is one that can be broken out year-round whenever you need a little pick-me-up.

The phrase “Santa Baby” came to mind when I first saw it on my nails.  This is one that I may actually get a full sized bottle of in addition to the mini that came with this set.

Now here it is with an accent nail using Nicole by OPI’s A Gold Winter’s Night.  This glitter rocks!  It’s a clear base with TONS of gold rose colored glitter, along with a bunch of holographic bars.  It can be used over any color and will give full coverage in 2 or 3 coats.  I am cuckoo for glitter lately, not sure what’s up with that.  Mid-life crisis you say?  No comment. <stern looks all around>

That’s it for now.  I hope you are all having a wonderful fall and that you enjoy your Thanksgiving and Black Friday shopping if you’re a reader from the US.  I never really used to be into the whole Black Friday thing, but have made the treck out for the last several years.  It’s kind of like a shopping version of new year’s eve party!  LOL  More of a social event and if you get some good deals out of it, awesome!!   I do some online also, so it’s not all complete madness.  (*^_^*)

Everyone else have a great week ahead!

Dexter Manicure I found

While checking my e-mail today, I came across a simple and wonderful homage to one of my absolute favorite shows – Dexter – in my daily email from NailNarcotics!  While I had seen the blood spatter manicures around, this one added another layer to it in that the manicure is a skittles like the one the Ice Truck Killer liked, hence the name “Ice Truck Killer” Nails.  Needless to say, once I read Ice Truck Killer Nails, I squealed with delight then shouted MOST AWESOME BLOGGER EVER!!!!  But I digress…

Above is a pic of her manicure.  If I hadn’t just painted my nails before reading her e-mail, I would at least have done the skittles part.  I’ve never done a splatter manicure, and figure that is probably more of a weekend manicure attempt, not an in-between-work-voting-and-schoolwork-at-8:30-on-a-Tuesday-night manicure attempt.

Thank you, NailNarcotics, for posting this.  It really made my  night!!

Anyone out there a fan of Dexter?  If so, how are you liking the new season?  If you don’t watch Dexter, start watching!  It’s a great show about a blood spatter analyst for Miami Metro Homicide who just happens to moonlight as a vigilante serial killer, bringing those to justice who have fallen through the cracks of the judicial process.

Have a nice week all!  Thanks for reading!
