Christmas Polish Present – Zoya Dream Box

I hope everyone had a happy and safe holiday season with friends and family.  Now on to the Christmas polish presents!!

This year I got some nail polish items from Santa to add to my stash.  One of my favorites is my Zoya Holo-day Dream Box.  It comes beautifully packaged with my three favorite colors from their Ornate Collection:  Aurora, Blaze and Storm.  These have had my eye since I saw the Ornate collection swatches, and I’m glad that Zoya saw fit to include them together in a box.

Blaze is described on the Zoya website as a full coverage, cool-toned medium mulberry red with a high concentration of micro fine diamond holographic glitter.  It really is a beautiful color and the sparkle from the holographic glitter is stunning.  This is two coats and a top coat.

Storm  is described a full coverage, holiday black with a high concentration of micro fine diamond holographic glitter. This one is particularly gorgeous as the glitter is wonderful complement to the deep black of the polish.  I think this one is my favorite of the three.  Two coats and a top coat are shown below.

Last, but not least, is Aurora, a full coverage, medium sugarplum purple flecked with a high concentration of micro fine diamond holographic glitter.  As with the other colors, the sparkle on this one is amazing, the best in the collection I’d even venture to say.  You can even see it indoors, so you know it’s a good one!  Two coats are shown below plus a top coat.

Next I decided to add snowflakes to this color using Wet ‘n Wild French Creme White.  We’ve had only a little bit of snow thus far this season and I hope that this will be my winter polish equivalent of a ‘snow dance’.

Thanks for stopping by for a bit.  With school starting week after next, I am hoping to do at least a post a week, and will do more if I can.  I appreciate all your likes and comments, and hope you all have a very happy and safe new year!!

China Glaze Christmas Manicures

Here is my attempt at holiday spirit.  Things have been so busy and stressful that I just haven’t been feeling it this year.  My hope was that some holiday cheer on my nails would transfer to my general outlook.  The colors I used for this are China Glaze’s Ruby Pumps (a deep ruby red with a ton of red microglitter) , Glittering Garland (a beautiful Eagle, or forest, green packed with green shimmer) and eventually some Fairy Dust.

I wanted something simple to start, so I alternated the two colors on my nails.  My quick-dry top coat du jour is Cult Nails’ Wicked Fast.

A few days later and I wanted a new manicure, but was far too lazy to do a WHOLE NEW one, so I sprinkled some Fairy Dust on top and it was even more sparkly!  I really do love that polish.  If you’re not familiar with it it’s a clear base loaded with holographic microglitter.  I could just stare at it for hours, like a little Christmas tree on each nail.

My final Christmas Manicure ended up involving Ruby Pumps and Champagne Bubbles.

My inspiration for this manicure was Lydia’s Nails Easy Peasy Christmas Trees.  I have had this tape that I have been meaning to work into a manicure, but between school, work and life I just hadn’t been able to.  With the holiday break from school upon me, I finally decided to work it in easily.  I am really loving the results, and will be doing this more frequently, I’m sure! Here’s lefty .  Pardon my nubby nails, they don’t seem to want to stay at a decent length, but I vowed to not let that stop me from making them pretty!!

and Righty who hardly ever gets any ‘face time’.  Let her bask in the glory that is hers, she deserves it.  If it wasn’t for her, lefty would look like a steaming pile of dog crap!  But I digress…

So those are my holiday manicures thus far.  Thanks to Lydia for her inspiration, without which this manicure may never have been.  As always, thanks for reading!! In case I don’t get another post in before Tuesday, Merry Christmas to all those who celebrate!  Those who don’t, have a great Tuesday!

Elemental Styles Polishes

My first foray into the world of Indie polish is three mini bottles from Elemental Designs.  The colors I chose are 37 Rubidium Cube, 89 Actin-ium My Age and 99 E=MC².  I was lucky enough to pick these up a while back, I believe her Etsy shop is currently closed.  Not sure if/when it will re-open, but I am glad I was able to get these colors.

37 Rubidium Cube is a polish that looks lime green, bordering on chartreuse.  It’s actually a clear base with white, yellow and green hex glitters.  It makes me think of Green Apple Jolly Rancher candies.  The color is very bright and I love it.  It’s worn on my index finger with 3 coats.

89 Actin-ium My Age is a purple with holographic microglitter and sparse purple hex glitter.  The hex glitters are not so thick as to make the polish hard to apply, but do look great with two coats (shown on my ring finger).  Holographic polishes are my favorite at the moment.  Soooo pretty….

99 E=MC² is a sheer grey base with black and silver glitters of various sizes.  The first time I saw this color all I could think of was Cookies and Cream ice cream and/or candy bars.  Donuts?  Whatever floats your boat.  Either way it’s beautiful and/or delicious.  Perhaps even both.

I am headed to NYC this weekend with some friends and my son, and haven’t the foggiest idea what color I will be using for the trip.  I have my eyes on a couple glitters, Orly Devil May Care and Angel Eyes, but I also was thinking about stamping some snowflakes, which might look better on a darker color (China Glaze Glittering Garland to show some Eagles spirit, maybe?).  We’ll see.  I will share pics of the polish and my trip at some point in the near future.

Thanks for reading, have a great Friday all!!

Cult Nails Behind Closed Doors Collection

Happy Monday, all!  Lots of pics but not too much to say.  It’s late and I need to get a post done so I can still consider my self a blogger.

Today’s post is all about Cult Nails and their new Behind Closed Doors Collection.  As always, the packaging is beautiful and completely recyclable.  Gotta love those bonus cotton balls that come with every order!  Maria from @CultNails is making sure you do a new mani as soon as you open the box.  🙂

Below is Afterglow, a light coppery brown with a pink-ish gold shimmer.  The shimmer isn’t captured well in these photos, but it is really beautiful.  This is a great fall color, and I loved wearing it.  I used three coats in the picture below.

Next is Bitten.  This is a pinkish-red with tons of glass flecks in it.  It’s a bit sheer but builds nicely and is opaque with three coats (shown below).  This is a great holiday color, and I will wear the ___ out of it, I’m sure.  🙂

Next I dressed Bitten up a bit with a couple accent nails of Fergie Hollywood Walk of Fame by Wet n Wild.  This polish , with its red, silver, blue and gold holo stars and a bit of holo microglitter, was a bit tough to work with.  The stars had to be fished out to get them on the nail.  But the overall look was good.  I think these two look nice together.

That’s it for today.  As always, thanks for reading!  Hope you all have a great week!
