OPI – Can’t Find My Czechbook

Happy (almost) Hump Day, everyone!  Today’s post is part of another set I got my hands on from OPI.  Their site is really awesome, you can ‘try on ‘ their colors and even adjust the length of the nails shown in the display!  Nail geekdom at its finest, I must say.  But I digress, back to the topic at hand.  The Euro Centrale mini set includes the polishes listed below:

  • Can’t Find My Czechbook
  • Suzy’s Hungary AGAIN!
  • You’re Such A BudaPest
  • OY-Another Polish Joke!

OPI Euro Centrale Minis

The polish swatch I am sharing today is called Can’t Find My Chezhbook (I just LOVE these polish names LOL).  It’s a baby blue creme that dries to a nice shine.  It was a bit streaky, but two layers gave complete coverage as you can see below.  It’s a bit darker/smokier in artificial light, so if you think the blue below might be a bit too much, it does tone down.  The photo below was taken in sunlight.  So, I’m wearing this color, and I think to myself, “Self, you should stamp something really cool and sparkly on top of this!”

OPI Can't Find My Czechbook

So the color I chose to stamp on top is one of the colors from Color Club‘s 2013 Halo Hues collection, called Beyond.  I haven’t swatched it yet, but will eventually.  This one is a black linear holographic polish, so I thought it would fit the bill with sparkle and add some contrasting dark color too.  I pulled out my Cheeky stamping plate CH2, and proceeded to perpetrate the crime against nail stamping that you see below.  I don’t know what it is lately, but my stamping mojo is missing.  I hope I can get it back, because I LOVE stamping and it’s so disappointing when you try and the end result really isn’t what you had intended.  Oh well, pity party over.  LOL  It looks OK and I can’t wait to see it out in the sun, I’d like to see how much sparkle I really get.

Thanks for stopping by, as always, feel free to leave any comments if you feel so inclined.  Have a great week!

Nails Inc. Soho Street from The After Party Set

Soho Street is another part of The After Party collection from Nails Inc It’s a bit more of my Christmas nail polish haul that I couldn’t be happier about!

Just like the bottle says, it looks like a glitter party in a bottle!  It’s a clear base with rainbow colored hex glitter in various sizes.  I was a bit sloppier than I’d like with it, unfortunately, but you can see that the two coats I used gives a ton of both color and sparkle.  This one will be great over other colors, also, can’t wait to mix it up!

Everybody out there, can you seriously send me some good nail juju??  Look at my nubs!  I can’t seem to stop breaking them and it makes me very sad.  I will be researching vitamins in the near future.  Does anyone out there use a vitamin for their nails and/or hair that they swear by?  If so, who makes it?  *sweet smile*

Let me know, seriously.  Thanks for reading!!  🙂

Christmas Polish Present – Zoya Dream Box

I hope everyone had a happy and safe holiday season with friends and family.  Now on to the Christmas polish presents!!

This year I got some nail polish items from Santa to add to my stash.  One of my favorites is my Zoya Holo-day Dream Box.  It comes beautifully packaged with my three favorite colors from their Ornate Collection:  Aurora, Blaze and Storm.  These have had my eye since I saw the Ornate collection swatches, and I’m glad that Zoya saw fit to include them together in a box.

Blaze is described on the Zoya website as a full coverage, cool-toned medium mulberry red with a high concentration of micro fine diamond holographic glitter.  It really is a beautiful color and the sparkle from the holographic glitter is stunning.  This is two coats and a top coat.

Storm  is described a full coverage, holiday black with a high concentration of micro fine diamond holographic glitter. This one is particularly gorgeous as the glitter is wonderful complement to the deep black of the polish.  I think this one is my favorite of the three.  Two coats and a top coat are shown below.

Last, but not least, is Aurora, a full coverage, medium sugarplum purple flecked with a high concentration of micro fine diamond holographic glitter.  As with the other colors, the sparkle on this one is amazing, the best in the collection I’d even venture to say.  You can even see it indoors, so you know it’s a good one!  Two coats are shown below plus a top coat.

Next I decided to add snowflakes to this color using Wet ‘n Wild French Creme White.  We’ve had only a little bit of snow thus far this season and I hope that this will be my winter polish equivalent of a ‘snow dance’.

Thanks for stopping by for a bit.  With school starting week after next, I am hoping to do at least a post a week, and will do more if I can.  I appreciate all your likes and comments, and hope you all have a very happy and safe new year!!

Dysfunctional Fashionista

It all started with an awesome bargain find at Ulta.  While checking their clearance area I found this awesome set of minis.  While I am not necessarily a Kardashian “fan”, who can pass up cute polish at a great price! Not THIS gal <points at self>….

The set below contains mini versions of four colors:

My Empire… My Rules is a charcoal grey creme
Follow Me on Glitter is a gunmetal/charcoal grey glitter polish full of multicolored hex glitter
Khloé Had a Little Lam-Lam is a dark teal/forest green creme
Hard-Kourt Fashionista. is a deep brown with a bit of a red undertone.  This is the one I am using in today’s manicure.

These colors are great for fall/winter, as they are dark, rich and very warm.

Super bargain from Ulta!

At first I was going to just do a manicure with the lighter accent nail and dots in the darker color.  I’ve been playing around with dots a lot lately and figured it would look nice.  I liked the way the accent nail looked so much that I decided to carry the dots throughout the manicure!  It looks like my middle and ring fingers weren’t as dry as I thought, as you probably notice a bit of a smear in the dots.  I still love this look, though, and I am sure I will be using it again.

Here is another shot with the Decades of Dysfunction bottle.  This color seems to pop up a lot in my manicures.  I think it’s my favorite of the Dark Shadows Collection from Orly.  It’s not completely nude but it still goes well with a number of other colors.

That’s it for now.  I hope you all enjoyed this design.  What neat things have any of you done with your dotting tools?  Let me know, I am always looking for new ways to work in dots!
