Houndstooth Design

My houndstooth manicure uses the following colors:  Julep’s Sienna, China Glaze fairy Dust and Sally Henson Salon Black Patent.  There are many polishes I have that I haven’t had the opportunity to enjoy, except for swatches :), so this is what I came up with.

Base of gold was nice, but I wanted to spice it up a bit, so I added some Fairy Dust (didn’t get a shot of it before adding the pattern, though, dangit!!).

Then it felt like it needed a design of some sort. so I added the Houndstooth pattern on Bundle Monster’s BM-322 plate from the 2012 collection.

Voila!  How do you like it? Here’s a bit of an out of focus shot, so you can see a bit of the sparkly, holographic goodness coming out from under the black stamping!

Agro Skittles Stamp Manicure

This mani uses China Glaze Agro, from the Hunger Games Collection, and Julep’s Kate.  The base coat I used was OPI’s Nail Envy (not shown) and butterLONDON’s HardWear as a top coat.

China Glaze’s Agro and Kate by Julep

First I have a base coat of China Glaze Agro, a sort of camo green with a silver shimmer that turns to a sort of yellow in the right light.  I really like the color, it’s perfect for fall and the coming cooler nights!!  It covers well with just two coats, which is really nice.  Actually, I probably could have gotten away with one coat.

Couldn’t decide on a design to stamp, so I went with five.  The plates I used are all from the Bundle Monster 2012 collection and the numbers are 311, 312, 315, 317 and 323.  I used Kate from Julep as the stamping color.  This one might be a bit sheer to use for stamping, but it’s not completely invisible.  In the future I may not use this again to stamp unless it’s over a VERY dark color  🙂

This is the first time I’ve done a skittles manicure of any sort, and I am not unhappy with the way it came out.  As usual, I need to work on my camera skills, in addition to making my nails stop breaking, but soon enough.  All in good time.

Thanks for reading, have a great weekend!!

OPI German Manicure

Good afternoon!  This next manicure was made using a base of OPI Don’t Pretzel My  Buttons and stamping using OPI Schnapps Out Of It! and Bundle Monster 2012 plate BM-313.  I wasn’t sure whether to call it my German Giraffe mani, or the Carb Loader (pretzels and schnapps, get it?).  Yeah, that’s why I called it the German Manicure.  LOL  But I digress…….
Here is the base of Don’t Pretzel My Buttons.  This is a very nice, nude color.  A very light beige creme that would work with any color complimentary, I think.  It’s a but blurry and pardon my beat up cuticles..

Here is a shot of the full manicure after top coat and a bit of cuticle care.

Finally, a close up of my thumb, which came out the best in my opinion (even though this was before I cleaned up the edges. That really isn’t my thumb bleeding, I promise).  I really like this plate design and can’t wait to use it with other colors!

These are the only two colors I have from the Germany Collection, but I would like to get my hands on several others.

For the design, I used a pattern from Bundle Monster plate BM-311 with Black Expressionism.  The numbers in the design made me think of the Mad Hatter’s hat in Alice in Wonderland, hence the name of the manicure.  Why do I have to name it?  Don’t know.  I just do.  🙂

Here is a close up of my thumb, I still need to work on my pictures, but I think you get the idea.  I can’t wait until I get to be an ‘old pro’ at this…
