Hello, everyone! I hope you are having a great weekend so far. Today I wanted to go for a very summery and bright polish, and one in a color I don’t usually wear: yellow. This is where Feel Me Up from Cult Nails comes into the picture. This is another polish from my recent 50% off haul from the Cult Nails site (celebrating her 200K likes on facebook, if I am not mistaken). So many great polishes and so much less than I would have spent without the sale! 🙂
Guess what day it is???
Happy hump day!!
I know, I know, that’s SO three months ago. I had an urge and I went with it. 🙂
On Wednesdays we wear pink! I just love the movie Mean Girls, how about you guys? There are even several Mean Girls themed polishes in my collection, and I inevitably have to stop and watch the movie if I catch it on. Totally a guilty pleasure, I’ll admit. I also love to memorialize and celebrate its hilarity and the Plastics code by wearing and/or posting pink nail polish on Wednesdays. Keep reading this post
Happy Sunday all! I hope you had an enjoyable weekend and feel rested and refreshed and ready for the week ahead. LOLOLOL I know, I know, but still.
Today I have a polish collection to share with you from one of my favorite polish makers, Cult Nails. Maria makes wonderful polishes that I always seem to find the irresistible urge to buy! Her frequent sales and discounted collection pre-sales help to make this possible. ^_^ Today’s collection is the recently released It’s A New Day. Funny story about this one, I placed my order a couple days before the end of the pre-sale and was excited to get my shipping information confirmed when the items were packaged. They were shipped on 4/30 with an anticipated delivery date of 5/2. May 2nd came and went and no polish. They seem to have taken a detour between the Orlando sort facility and my home in south central Pennsylvania as they were eventually delivered on May 12th after a trouble ticket and a couple calls to the USPS. Did they go to Disney, Universal Studios or check out the New Harry Potter attractions? Maybe visit some of my friends that still live in Florida? The world may never know. But I digress. Now, on to the beautiful spring polishes…… Continue reading
Inspired by a comic book
Hello, everyone. Yes, me again, I know! What’s up with THAT? Just keeping up with the Comic-Con Geek Week Nail Art challenge. Today’s theme is inspiration from a comic book, and the first thing that came to mind was Batman. The yellow and black from the comic’s cover would surely be included in this manicure and I think I know how I can achieve a themed design with my newbie skills. 🙂
Colors and Plate Used
Cult Nails You’re My Dandy Lion
I used Cult Nails You’re My Dandy Lion as the base and then did nail art with stamping and a brush. My Cheeky plate set had some of the traditional comic book Zap, Bam, and Pows I needed to pull this off with minimal brush work. The ‘BOOM’ in the middle is a bit wonky, but I’m sure you get it. 🙂 Note to self, swatching nails can and should be used to practice new techniques. Another love I have that stems from Batman is that Adam West has a prominent part in one of my favorite animated TV shows, Family Guy. Wonderfully irreverent and full of laughs! But I digress….
I hoped you like this manicure, I think now that I have finally tried to use my brushes I am a little more confident in the thought of me being able to use them to make pretty things and not just blobs of paint. Clearly I need a lot of work, but practice makes perfect. Make sure to check out everyone else’s manicures for the day 4 challenge using the links below!
Thanks for stopping by!
Morning Glory is a part of Cult Nails‘ In The Garden Collection. I’m a sucker for pre-sale savings, so of course I had to order it. This set consists of a range of bright Spring colors. This particular shade is a bright pink/fuscia. It’s definitely not a neon, but it’s got a lot of color and won’t go unnoticed. This polish, as well as two others in this collection have a was finish which is shown in the first two photos below. This is my first time wearing a wax finish and it reminds me almost of a polish with a matte finish or topcoat applied. I can certainly see this color being used heavily during the spring and summer months.
Again with no topcoat
Here is Morning Glory with a topcoat. I really do love this color and hope that my icky photos really convey what a pretty medium-dark pink color this is. I am not usually one to wear pink polishes, but this one is reminiscent of my wild and crazy days back in the 80s. Good times. Heavy metal, aquanet, big hair, spandex, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Wham, Culture Club and fishnet stockings. Godfather’s Pizza and the Fiesta Taco in the Kendale Lakes Mall. Had my first job at the Baseball Card Store in that mall; second job actually. But I digress. Here is Morning Glory in full shine mode.
Thanks for reading, I hope you all had a nice weekend. With any luck I will get some more of this set posted before long. I’m actually currently wearing another color, and can’t wait to share.
Happy Sunday, everyone! Hopefully you’re relaxed after a nice weekend and looking forward to the week ahead. I just finished a Statistics course on Wednesday and am starting a new course today, so had a whole 3 days off school! Too bad I had still to work and do everything else in the meantime, so unfair lol. This class is online, so no extra miles or time taken out of my day to commute to and from school, that is awesome! Anyhow, I digress as that’s not really what this post is about…. 🙂
Mind Control by Cult Nails
Today’s polish is Mind Control by Cult Nails. Maria’s packaging is absolutely lovely as each bottle is securely wrapped in recyclable materials and marked clearly with the name, and she also includes cotton balls as an added buffer from the world. All this wrapped in red tissue paper with a cute Cult Nails sticker on it. (This package even included a cute little clear/black netted bag whose top pulls closed. I will have to hunt it down and photograph it.) It’s almost as fun to open the package as it is to use the polish!
I got this a while back when I bought a Convert Pack (#4 was my choice) that included Deception along with Wicked Fast Top Coat and Time Traveler. You can see it photographed on the Cult nails site here. I love all of these colors, and will swatch the others eventually. 🙂 Mind Control is a really deep smoky purple with a shimmer that shifts from pink to purple, even a bit blue in some light. The macro below was the best of my attempts to capture it.
This is two coats of Mind Control and a top coat.
Do you all like this polish? Are you a fan of the Cult Nails line? I have many of their polishes and have really enjoyed all of them. What’s your favorite color? Let me know.
Thanks for reading and have a great week!
