Orly Red Flare – Bargain find!

Breaking Bargain News!

Howdy, folks! I know it’s been a while, and I appreciate those that stick around for my now and again blogging style lol. I’ve got so many polish pics taken and just need to put posts together. There are actually a handful in draft status that I will work on getting posted in the near future. The world needs to see my nails, and I am going to show them! Eventually.  But I digress, I am hear to talk about an amazing bargain I found, not my shortcomings as a blogger…….

Happy hump day!!

I know, I know, that’s SO three months ago.  I had an urge and I went with it. 🙂

On Wednesdays we wear pink!  I just love the movie Mean Girls, how about you guys?  There are even several Mean Girls themed polishes in my collection, and I inevitably have to stop and watch the movie if I catch it on.  Totally a guilty pleasure, I’ll admit.  I also love to memorialize and celebrate its hilarity and the Plastics code by wearing and/or posting pink nail polish on Wednesdays. Different Dimension – Just Keep Swimming

Today’s polish is from Different Dimension and it’s called Just Keep Swimming.  I have many polishes from Missi’s shop and I love them all!  Check out a mani I’ve done before with one of her polishes here. There is also a Pink Floyd themed polish set I got from her that I have yet to swatch.  Yes.  You heard me right, a Pink Floyd themed polish set!  See more about it here.  She’s got tons of other themed polishes like Big Bang Theory, Mean Girls and Pretty Little Liars. You should really check out her store even if only to drool over its awesomeness!!  😀  But I digress…..

This polish is a bright cerulean blue linear holographic polish that is chock full of sparkly goodness.  The photos below show two coats of Just Keep Swimming over a coat of Seche Rebuild and one layer of Cult Nails Wicked Fast topcoat.  the first two photos were taken outdoors in direct sunshine and you can see how this brings out the most beautiful holographic dance of color.  the last photo was taken indoors with a flash.

Here is the flash photo.  My puny little nails are not showing the true glory of this polish, but the bottle shot does give you an idea of how strong the holo is in this color.  I absolutely love it and will use it again and again, I’m sure.  On a side note, there are some cat hairs that made their way into today’s photos.  I do try to prep my bottles, etc, for photographing, but inevitably the occasional cat hair has and will continue to make its way into my photos.  It’s my way of letting the babies share in the blogging experience. I can’t say for sure if this hair came from Stewie, Otto or Maggie, but they are all here in spirit.  😀

That’s it for today, I hope you enjoyed this color as much as I did. I have SO many new holographic polishes I don’t even know which to swatch next, but I will figure it out.  I promise!  Hope you all have a great Friday and weekend ahead!

Thanks for stopping by!!

JulieG Rock Candy Swatches

FrostedGumDrops Collection

JulieG Rock Candy no topcoat

Rock Candy from JulieG‘s FrostedGumDrops collection is the polish I have for you today.  This came to me by way of a deal that Groupon had a couple months back, where the set was only $12.99!  I could NOT pass that deal up.  My only regret is that I didn’t get another set for gifting or a giveaway.  This is the first textured polish I’ve tried.  As soon as the ‘sandy’ look came out, I wasn’t sure how fond of it I would be, if at all.  What I love about polish is its glossy, smooth shine, and this did not seem to fit the bill.  After seeing many swatches and blog posts about this, I decided to take the plunge.

JulieG Rock Candy no topcoat

As you can see, Rock Candy is a pale teal polish with the obvious silver glitter strewn throughout. The polish should be applied in thin coats for best results, according to the website’s description, and I would have to agree that using thick layers could cause this polish to chunk up rather quickly.  It’s also stated that the polish can take up to 10 minutes to dry fully, so definitely take that into consideration when painting your nails with any of the polishes from this collection.

For the truly matte and textured appearance of this polish you should not use a topcoat.  The pictures above show the polish this way.  Below is the polish with two coats of Seche Vite.  This allows you to still see all the glittery goodness of this polish while smoothing it out and giving that high gloss shine that I really love about polish.

Thanks for taking a peek into my polish obsession today.  Feel free to leave any comments below, I do love to hear from those who stop by.  Hope you have a happy hump day!

SquareHue SoBe Collection June 2013

SoBe Collection from SquareHue June 2013

SquareHue SoBe Collection

Sorry for being MIA for a while, life got in the way of blogging.  🙂

Today I have a set I just received from SquareHue, the SoBe Collection for June 2013.  SquareHue offers a monthly subscription service that offers a themed three-polish set for $21, shipping included.  Their polishes are 3-free, they are not tested on animals and they are made proudly in the USA!  They also donate a portion of their proceeds to causes helping those in need; their current focus is human trafficking.

I will admit that what drew me to them was their bottle design and packaging.  However, once I started actually using their polish, I was made a customer for life.  The one caveat is that colors are not previewable, so you get what you get when you order.  I have yet to be dissatisfied with any colors.  🙂

These colors are very art deco and completely South Beach.  I grew up in Miami and can tell you that the art deco district of Miami’s South Beach is saturated with these beautiful shades!  Below are the colors included in this month’s set.

To go along with these ocean themed polishes, I decided to do some similarly themed stamping.  I used Cheeky plate CH36 and chose the life preserver and anchor, as you can see.  This is the second time I’ve used my Cheeky Summer Collection plates and, after looking through them again, I see some really great images I can’t wait to use.  The images transferred really well, but I don’t think the mani came out as awesome as I had anticipated.  Maybe next time I will use Collins Avenue as the base instead of the stamping color, we’ll see.  Do any of you subscribe to SquareHue and, if so, what do you think?  Is there any nail polish or beauty subscription box that you just LOVE?  Let me know, I would like to check out some new goodies!  🙂
